Unveiling of “Cyber Time Capsule”
HONG KONG, 16 May 2012– Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC) held their “A Decade of Pride and Success of Hong Kong” 10th Anniversary Celebration at the Asia Society Hong Kong Center today, where the 10th Anniversary “Cyber Time Capsule” was unveiled. Through the “Cyber Time Capsule”, the people of Hong Kong can share the pride and success of Hong Kong during the last decade, such as the achievements and memorable moments of local Internet development. With the corporation’s efforts and the support from various industries, the number of .hk registrations has steadily increased from around 60,000 when HKIRC was established in April 2002, to more than 230,000 at the beginning of this year, of which .com.hk / .公司.香港 accounts for approximately half. This demonstrates that enterprises in Hong Kong have leveraged on domain names indicating Hong Kong presence to establish their websites and augment their company image.

The digital files will be made available again on the website 10 years later, so that we can review and relive these special moments in time.
