HONG KONG, 22nd September 2004 - Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited ('HKIRC') is pleased to announce that its second Annual General Meeting and Election of the HKIRC Board of Directors for Year 2004 was successfully held on 22 September, 2004.

The Board of Directors comprises six independent classes with different number of members, representing the interests and needs of different community sectors. In these six classes, the Director representing the Government Class was appointed, the candidates of Commerce and Industry Class and Tertiary Institution Class have been automatically elected while there were 17 candidates standing for election to the other three different classes this year. Votes were cast either by email or by post in advance or in person during the AGM 2004. The whole election process was conducted in an open manner with the supervision of the Election Committee (whose members are directors not running for the 2004 election) and external auditors.

The new Board of Directors of HKIRC for Year 2004 consists of the following:

The new Board of Directors will continue to lead HKIRC, and its subsidiary, Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited ('HKDNR'), to provide better services to meet the needs and expectations of various sectors in the community, as well as to contribute to Hong Kong's e-business development and the global Internet community.


Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited ('HKIRC') was established as a non-profit-making and non-statutory organization to oversee the administration and assignment of the country-code top level domain (ccTLD), '.hk', for Hong Kong. In addition, HKIRC represents Hong Kong in international Internet forums and plays a key role in facilitating Hong Kong's e-business development.
