Anti-fraud tips – Beware of fraudsters impersonating company staff

2022-10-11
As part of the internet infrastructure, Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC) plays an active role in the promotion of cybersecurity awareness. We are pleased to offer our customers practical tips on a regular basis to keep you abreast of up-to-date cybersecurity information and avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
Fraudsters might impersonate Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC) or Hong Kong Domain Name Registration Company Limited (HKDNR) staff on phone calls, voice messages, emails, or SMS to steal your personal data and credit card information through invitations to sign up for promotional discounts or service charge concessions.
  1. If you receive a scam call or message which purports from HKIRC or HKDNR, please verify the caller’s identity. When necessary, you should end the conversation right away and contact our customer service hotline (852)2319 2303 for assistance.
  2. If you have provided any personal or financial information to a suspicious third party, or suspect you might have been deceived, please call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222”, Anti-Deception Coordination Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force, to enquire or report the case.
  3. Do not reveal any personal information, bank account information, credit card numbers, login passwords and OTP to others under any circumstances.
  4. Change the password immediately if you have revealed to any suspicious person.
For enquiries, please contact our customer service hotline +852 2319 2303.
